    What is VoIP?

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a technology that enables voice transmissions to travel over the Internet rather than over traditional phone lines. Speech is converted to packets of voice data which are sent over a broadband internet connection to another phone where the stream of voice data is reassembled into its original form.

How do you make calls over a VoIP connection?

The same way you would with an ordinary telephone. The only difference is that you use an IP phone that is plugged into an Ethernet connection instead of a phone jack because the call is made digitally over the internet.

What are the benefits of VoIP?

VoIP is much less expensive than traditional phone service, especially in cases of heavy long distance or international calling. It is also far more versatile than analog telephony with features such as voicemail-to-email, find-me/follow-me and simultaneous ring that can be managed from an online interface.

Why should I choose a VoIP phone service?

VoIP is a great way to reduce phone bills and to improve the professional appearance of a small office. Many business VoIP features are included, such as Virtual Receptionists, Dial-by-Name, Virtual Departments and Call Queuing. These features can make the customer facing presence of a small business much more streamlined, professional and efficient.

Do you have ring groups/call groups/virtual departments?

Yes. We have a Call Groups feature that rings multiple extensions simultaneously.

How many phone lines do I get with your service?

How much Internet Bandwidth do I need?

Each active call with Vocalocity requires approximately 64 kbps up/down of bandwidth from a DSL, Cable, T1, or Fiber broadband connection.

How much technical skill is required to set-up and use the service?

Virtually none. The IP phones are plug and play and will arrive ready to make and receive calls the instant they’re plugged into a broadband connection, right out of the box. The account settings can easily be administered from our user-friendly online interface.

    What is Vocalocity Hosted-PBX?

Vocalocity PBX replaces traditional on-premise phone systems and analog phone service by hosting the phone system on remote servers and sending calls over the internet using Voice over IP (VoIP) technology. This saves small businesses money: on the startup cost, on phone system maintenance, and up to 80% on phone bills, as well.
